Living on this planet is not always as easy as we thought. There will always something that threats our lives like war and disease. Talking about the disease, it’s something that has been around us since the first human. Throughout the centuries, we have seen so many dangerous diseases that almost wipe out the human race. If it not because of the will to survive from mankind, we have been eradicated from this planet forever. But, our will to survive save us, we make a hell of a fight to eradicate diseases. Today, I want to share with you some of the most deadly diseases in our history.

1. Influenza

Some of us may not know that influenza or flu is one of the most critical disease ever hit mankind. The history that makes flu as a lethal disease is recorded back in 1918 and it’s called Spanish flu. The thing that makes Spanish flu so pandemic it’s because the flu involving an H1N1 virus. This disease infecting over 500 million people across the world and kill about 50 to 100 million people, that is almost 3 to 5 percent of the human population back in the day.

2. Cholera

Created because of an infection of bacteria called Vibrio Cholerae. This disease could widely spread in environments with poor sanitation and not enough clean drinking water. The effect of this disease is so horrifying, the person infected with cholera will suffer from diarrhea, vomiting, and muscle cramps. Due to severe diarrhea, the infected person will also suffer great dehydration. And the dehydration will cause skin wrinkling and turn bluish. Based from Wikipedia, 3 to 5 million people are infected with cholera each year. More people will be infected if clean sanitation is not built in poor countries.

3. Smallpox

Although the WHO clearly stated that smallpox is eradicated, still, this disease is a nightmare for mankind. The sufferers will have to face the reality that their skins are covered with spots all around the body. Smallpox is caused by the variola virus. The last case of this virus is recorded back in 1977. To prevent this disease from getting worse, a smallpox vaccination is required to make people immune.

4. Yellow Fever

Yellow Fever is a viral disease caused by a bite from a female mosquito. The symptoms of this disease are fever, chills, nausea, and severe pain in the muscle, especially in the back. This viral disease will infect the liver, making it not functioning normally and turn the infected people’s skin into yellow, that’s why this is called yellow fever. To prevent this a vaccination is required.

5. Diarrhea

Diarrhea is caused by some virus, bacteria, or parasites. The symptoms are frequent defecating and severe dehydration due to the defecation. The most cause of this disease is because of unhealthy food, and unhealthy habit. To prevent this, a healthy and clean life is required. You need to always wash your hands before you eat.

So, those are some of the dangerous diseases that haunt our lives. Even though some of them are officially eradicated, but that won’t stop the probability in the future. It’s up to us to live a healthy and clean life.
